When is the best time to start buying for baby if you do not plan on having a baby shower?

I'm 20 weeks 3 days and we just now ordered her 2 outfits on Amazon. We are having a baby shower though.

I started finding freebies from 14 weeks. I got a stroller, boppy and covers, receiving blankets, burp cloths and some bibs for free. Now at almost 18 weeks I'm starting to buy everything else

Wait till the 20w mark. I say that because you've had enough time to research and you won't have bought everything and then spent the rest of your pregnancy wanting to shop but oops, you're done lol
