what happens at a anatomy scan? 18 weeks

I have a Ultrasound and doctors appointment next Wednesday. It's a Anatomy scan. I don't know why I'm so nervous, maybe it's because I don't know what to expect? Can you ladys tell me what happens.

The anatomy scan is a very important test. The scan will take longer than your others. They measure the brain and internal organs. They look for a properly developed spine, heart with four chambers, two kidneys, and a lot of other things. It is a key test to identify potential issues with your baby. Mine is in two hours and I'm pretty anxious. I just want them to tell me that bub is healthy and progressing properly. 
You can learn the genitals of your baby if that is important to you but the purpose of the scan is not to identify sex it is to check for diseases. Finding out the sex is just a nice bonus for those who need to know.

It's an ultrasound and you can find out baby's gender.

It's a longer ultrasound to check on all of baby. They look at each organ to make sure it's their and that it looks normal. They check the brain connections and the size. They measure all major bones and check for fingers and toes. They check the palate to make sure it's not cleft, the orbital sockets, ears, etc on the head. They check for clubbed feet. They measure the abdomen as well. And they will check gender if they can see it.

They also check the placenta and umbilical cord, make sure blood flow to the uterus is good. And they also measured my cervix then too to check for preterm labor risk.

It's just an ultrasound. They check and make sure baby has all his/her organs and measures them, checks the bones and everything too. And you can find out the gender.
