There are increasing populations of poor women in numerous countries (India leading this group) that are basically forced into surrogacy, by their husbands, pimps, abductors, or just because they are so poverty stricken that they have run out of other options. It's a disgusting business. I believe when done for the right reasons and with a sound mind, surrogacy is a beautiful thing. Although her opinion seems to be skewed, there are instances of surrogacy that yes, should be (or already are) illegal.

Some places do force someone into being asurrogate which is awful, but it's something, in theory and usually in practice, where consenting adults consent to this transaction and are compensated by a specified mean. It's the same as prostitution to me (some may say that's bad, but in theory both are selling their body which is fine).

Keep it legal, keep it safe, make sure everyone is compensated fairly and that everyone is consenting. Voila, happy customers and providers.

A female choosing to be a surrogate isn't human trafficking. That's so ignorant. I would prefer adoption in lieu of surrogate. I get why people choose surrogacy. However as a stepmom I know you can love a child that isn't your biological child. And there are so many children that need a good home.
