Would you let your daughter take your wedding dress from a failed marriage?

My best friend will be walking down the isle this summer with her wonderful wife, she will be wearing her mothers wedding dress for when she married her father ,the dress is truly beautiful but i'm shocked considering the relationship of her parents ended horrificly. I'm not there to judge her i'm there to support her but this thought has been floating around in my head for a little.

It's not the dress the ruined a marriage. It's the people in the marriage that destroyed it. 
A dress is a dress. If it's beautiful and it's exactly what she wants for her wedding, I don't see the issue. You shouldn't put that negativity on the dress. Or even mention that to the bride. It's her special day, it's a completely different relationship/marriage.

Yes, because the dress doesn't bring all the marriage's problems along with it. If she liked the dress, then I'd give it to her no doubt. My parents got divorced and if they had a wedding and the dress wasn't horrible, I'd wear it. It would be the dress my mother wore when my parents got married. Sure their relationship failed miserably, but if they weren't together, I wouldn't be here.
