Love Thy Neighbors they said...
My neighbor is mid to late 60's living on her own with no help. She suffers from obesity and sleep apnea, has a pacer and also has lymphedema and many other medical diagnosis.
She has been kinda like a member of our family for over 10 years and she needs A LOT of help.
The issue with her is that she's very bossy, cranky, short tempered, and agitated and doesn't take no for an answer...
Which is why no one in our neighborhood offers a hand.
Tonight as she was leaving our house and limping back to her place in the middle of the rain, I always watch her with the light on to make sure she gets their safely...
This woman lost it.
She started screaming - at the top of her lungs, "GO TO HELL ALL OF YOU!" "LAZY HYPOCRITES!" "I HATE THIS NEIGHBORHOOD!" "LEAVE ME ALONE!!".
She kept yelling as she was walking and even when she got inside her house.
A part of me was shocked and felt really bad, but then another part understood why the neighborhood stays away from her.
They call her the crazy lady, the hoarder (and she does).
Her children left her and her husband divorced her.
I give her rides and send her food, get her mail, throw out the trash, get her medicine, help her dress, etc... but she's pushy and sometimes I purposely ignore her because she makes my blood boil.
Anyways I just wanted to vent. I feel bad for what has come to the elderly, I hope one day I never become that way.
