Thoughts/Feelings on Aspartame?

So aspartame is supposedly a very very bad artificial sweetener. It's usually found in diet pops...

For example there's about 55 mg in a litre of soda/pop.

Theres a few studies suggesting aspartame could possibly cause cancers.

So what's your opinion/thoughts on aspartame?
