Mini rant - "every child is different"

I have a bit of a mini rant. Does anyone else feel this way?

I'm a chronic worrier type mom. Now, right now I have grounds for worrying. My newly 8 mo is not crawling (or creeping, shuffling etc) and is having hard time standing even assisted. Sometimes I ask others when their babies did (I know, I shouldn't really do this), and then they proceed to give me an answer and then say every baby is different. Then they proceed to say how incredibly early their babies achieved some other milestones as another evidence that "babies are different". I get that babies develop differently, but moms that are worried are worried bc babies aren't developing quickly enough and whether that equates to their future success. I.e the faster they achieve some milestone, the smarter/more successful they will become. So for ppl to talk about how fast their babies did XYZ so casually when trying to advise a mom notto worry, is counter intuitive and unhelpful. Is it just me? I feel wrong feeling this way, but I just feel so sad.
