How close to due date should I take time off?

Question

I don't have maternity leave because I just started with the company, but I can take up to 8 weeks of unpaid vacation. When should I plan to start my time off?

I plan on working up until I deliver so I can take advantage of as much time as I can with the little one. Optimally, I will get off of work then nap then go have the baby lol in a perfect world.

I worked until the day I went into labor. My boss and staff knew that it would be any day and I prepared ahead for the 4 weeks I took off so everyone was then prepared for my absence. It also kept steady money coming in until for 2 weeks into my leave since we got paid bi-weekly.  This has to be approved by your superiors and your doctor though

My job involves driving- district nurse, i am pregnant with twins. I get 7 weeks annual leave from april to march so i am really lucky. I am finishing 2nd week of june- due august 9th (obv won't go that far) but i don't think i will be driving after 30 weeks as im getting massive!
