subchorionic hematoma

Shelley
Anyone else have this? I was at the airport with my 5 year old and felt a gush of liquid between my legs. When I went to the restroom, I had bled through my pants! I was so panicked that I ditched my flight and hopped in a cab (with my son) to the ER. They did an ultrasound and baby looks fine -- strong heartbeat and wiggling around -- but the ER doc diagnosed a subchorionic hematoma/hemhorrage as the cause for the bleeding. She said these hematomas usually resolve themselves but can bleed out a few times.
The bleeding only lasted a few minutes and slowed to spotting (still ongoing now, about 24 hours later) but it was SO SCARY, especially because I was alone with my 5 year old and my husband was home in NJ.
I flew home this morning and went straight to my OB practice. They told me the same as the ER doc -- that it's fairly common and can be scary but usually doesn't pose a huge risk to the baby unless it doesn't resolve. She told me to take it easy for a few days but didn't restrict me to bed rest. I am taking it upon myself to stay on the couch and drink lots of water.... I might try to go back to work on Monday.
