Having two siblings with the same middle name?!?

My SO & I don't know what we are having yet, we find out in a week. The other night we were talking about names & he says if it's a girl he wants the middle name to be Marie just like my step daughters middle name. I told him why he wanted them to both have the same middle name & he said so they share something together. I told him I didn't really care for it. Why have two siblings with the same middle name, it's just sounds like we put no thought into, but i told him I would think about it. Am I wrong hating the name suggestion?

I have a friend who has 3 daughters and they all have the same middle name.. and to me it's super cute and flows well.. it's a personal choice no right or wrong in my eyes

My cousins (and their mother), all have Star as their middle name. Never liked it, but they love it. I think if they end up being close they'll love it. I hate it personally.

My girlfriend and her husband have given all three of their daughters the same middle name. I have a sister that shares my middle name and another pair of sisters that share a middle name. I've also known several other families that have done this.

I don't think it looks like no effort was made and I can understand where you and your SO is coming from. It's really only a decision y'all can make. In my experience, it's not that uncommon to have siblings with the same middle name or that of one of their parents.

I have same middle name as my younger brother (in boy version) and I hate it..when we got to high school people made fun of us and some still do including our parents 🙄

You know special and close that could bring them?
I named my half sister i was 15 at the time, she is almost 10 now and every time I see her we always talk about it. She says it makes her feel special that her sister got to name her! It brought up closer and created a bond at her birth!
My son's middle name is Cole and if we had another boy it was gonna be Cole as well but we had a girl, her middle was gonna be Colette girl version of Cole but I went with a different middle name.

Both my brothers have the same middle name-David (my father's first name). My first brother was named that way and my other brother chose that as his middle name when my parents adopted him.

I think it's a cute idea, aside from the fact that Marie is a very very common middle name. In fact it's actually mine 😂 but I do like the idea of it, it's just such a common name
