applying for WIC?

Ok so here's the backstory. I make close to 6 figures. I am a single mom. Rent is VERY high in my area (I have a one bedroom that is $2k/month) and after all other expenses, money will be tight regardless of my high single salary.

That being said, people have told me to apply for WIC regardless. I feel a little weird trying for aid when my salary is so much above the eligibility requirements, but I'll take what I can get if I can get it. Wouldn't you?

My question is: is it worth it to try? And if I do it, do I wait until baby is born or before?

Everything is based on your income and family size! They really don't care if your rent is $2.000 and you'll have no money left at the end of the month. I got declined and I make wayyyy less than you 😲

Lolol. I tried yesterday as a matter of fact. .. was declined because of income. 🙃 doesn't hurt to try, takes less than 10 minutes for them to tell you no.

Look up income requirements. Where I live your income has to be super low to qualify.

If you're going to apply, do it ASAP. You can receive benefits as a pregnant woman. Whether it's worth it is up to you. You say money will be tight but that doesn't really help me understand your financial situation. It doesn't hurt to try to see if you qualify. But if it's just a "i can't go shopping as much anymore" and not a "I'm not sure if I will be able to buy food once the baby gets here" I don't think you'll have much luck. I don't say that to demonize you in anyway. I am just not aware of your financial situation. I know 6 figures is quite a bit, but in places with high costs of living, I'm not sure how far it will go. I think you should apply if you feel like you need it.

Deff look up the salary requirements in your state, I know in the state of PA you have to make a low amount for a one person household to qualify. To be honest, you probably make too much to qualify for WIC, which is pretty sad. I feel like WIC should also look at what people are paying each month, rent, electricity, food! Especially because you said you live in an area where rent is not cheap.

If you qualify for Medicaid you can get wic. Call the wic office and ask so you don't waste your time otherwise
