Ok I am super frustrated with my insurance and not sure if I'm just ignorant here. I am hiring a midwife and will be paying upfront and hopefully being reimbursed. I called my insurance today to get pre approval so I can ensure I will get my reimbursement and the lady acted like I was a dumb shit for even asking. She kept telling me "you don't need pre authorization for maternity care" but also told me that midwives are out of network but still co eyed "up to.a point" but can't tell me what that "point" is. I just have to wait and find out? I asked for some sort of proof that I will get reimbursed I writing and she said there is nothing they can do. Nothing they can give me in writing and no way to tell me what the "limit" is that they will cover. I mean telling me that are covered 70% up to a point (point unknown) does not help me. We honestly need this info to be sure we can afford the care. Am I crazy for asking for this? Or do I just not "get" how it works?
