Measuring ahead = big baby or deliver early??

Question

FTM. I'm 36 weeks and my doctor told me I'm measuring 37 - 37 1/2. Does that mean I'm going to have a huge baby or that I may deliver early?

Not necessarily. My son measured up and down over and over thru the last trimester. It's just the rate at which they grow and it's different for each baby. Your first scan in the first trimester is still your most accurate dating. If your doctor is concerned about the size and feels you should actually deliver early, he will let you know.

This was him our first night home, he wasn't chunky at all, just linen and skinny. I know lots of people think 7 pounds and 11 ounces is "big" for a baby (people I know anyways) but he really wasn't big at all.😂

My daughter always measured a week ahead and she came out 6lbs9oz 9 oz 19in. Same with my son and he came out 7lbs 14oz. We're having our 2nd son in August and he's measuring a week ahead as well. Just hoping he's less than 8 lbs.

I'm 34 weeks measuring a week and five days ahead since 28 weeks, I been thinking the same, kinda nervous but my daughter came out skinny and lanky but very healthy so I think he will be the same :)

I friend of mine measured two weeks ahead earlier this year, and they told her the baby was already measuring at 8 pounds at around 37 weeks. She went into labor a few days later and had a 7 pound baby.

I've always measured on track, but it depends on your body, honestly. Like I've been average, but my doctor still said expect a big baby because I'm tall

It honestly means nothing really. It's actually good you're measuring around there. You typically want to measure 1-3 weeks ahead. I've always been a week and a half ahead.

It doesn't mean you'll have a huge baby or deliver early. My son measured a week ahead (sometime a week and a half) my whole pregnancy. He was only 7 pounds 11 ounces and came two days before my due date.
