Alcohol while breastfeeding?

Can you drink alcohol if you're breastfeeding? I've heard mixed reviews and I'm so confused. I just want some wine 😂

Yes absolutely. If you are okay to drive you are okay to breastfeed. And you do not need to pump and dump if you have too much and arent okay to breastfeed at that moment. Alcohol Cycles out of your breast milk like it does out of your blood. You can also buy test strips to test your breast milk with.

You DO NOT NEED TO PUMP AND DUMP! Please look at the resources on kellymom.com about breastfeeding and alcohol. It is all scientifically based and peer reviewed. According to them, you almost never need to pump and dump except for very rare medicines. Have a drink or two no problem. Your breast milk is a fabulous filter. The only concern with drinking while breastfeeding is making sure you are still coherent enough to safely care for your baby, so keep it to one or two drinks.

If its just one have it as soon as you're done bfing by the time your little one is ready for the next feed it should have left your system i drink is usually about 1 hour leaving your system including your milk so if its in small quantities theres no need to pump and dump
