SGL vs Gay/Lesbian
Recently took this down from Controversy Corner to move it to this group:
A group of us we're going over different sexualities/genders and their definitions. According to a site we stumbled upon, SGL, known as "same gender loving" is not the same as gay or lesbian because it is same sex attraction strictly within the black community.
Now, some of my black friends and family feel as if that's a form of segregation, they feel as if gay and lesbian simply defines same sex attraction even if they are only attracted to other black people and shouldn't be categorized into "African American." Is there anyone that does identify with SGL as opposed to gay or lesbian? Why so? If not, do you feel it is "semi-racist"? What are everyone's thoughts?
We are simply trying to learn :)
