Gestational diabetes diagnosis
Well, I have been diagnosed with GD. I was in no way expecting this, I am so shocked. My weight is average for my height etc and my eating habits are great, I exercise enough.. I thought I was doing everything right for my body. Then boom! My level was 200! My midwife even said she was shocked by my results bc everything has been normal so far and I am in good health. Turns out my paternal grandmother developed diabetes during a pregnancy and my dad is pre diabetic, so family history totally threw me for a loop on this one. I have been crying about it on and off since I got the results the other night. My main concern is my birth plan, I want a natural birth. Has anyone in the group been diagnosed with GD and has had a natural birth? Did your GD go away after birth? My level is so high I am scared it will stay high even after birth.. I'm meeting with a dietician this week and hopefully will manage this for the rest of my pregnancy with diet, I do not want to have to take medication. Just looking for any advice or experience from others who were completely shocked and devastated by the diagnosis. Thank you!!
