Okay! So I feel like this is a dumb question but I'm a mere teenager with little to no knowledge on how things work. How come some women "try for months/years" to get pregnant?

Answer

Getting pregnant is all about perfection. Perfect timing, perfect sperm, perfect egg, perfect implantation. If one thing is thrown off then it doesn't happen. There is only about a 30% chance of getting pregnant each cycle. And lots of women have pcos, endo, cysts, and other issues that can decrease that risk even more. Not to mention their partner could have issues as well. Getting pregnant isn't easy, for most couples they have to try for a year.
