Patting baby's bum dry after wipes?

So my mother in law insists that I should pat the baby's bum dry after using wipes before putting the diaper on. I've never heard of anyone doing so. My baby is 4 months old and we've never had any diaper rash or anything as of yet. I asked around and some said yes and some said they've never done it.

So should I or no? She even went out of her way as to buying reusable wipes to do so. I look at it as one more thing to wash and buy/use if we haven't had any diaper issues yet.
