I'm looking into getting the mirena iud but would like to hear stories/experiences from other mommas who have had it before I make a decision! Aaaaannnndddd GO!

I'm not a mom, but I had the Mirena for 3 years and loved it. No side effects and no period. Now most of my friends have it and they all love it too.

I only kept it in a month. Insertion was extremely painful for me, I bled the whole month. I got it taken out because it turned me into a mess, crying, panicked, anxiety I was crying and sad all the time for no reason. 😒

I've had the mirena for the past 7 years and absolutely loved it! My periods were always light before the mirena,  and once I got the mirena they disappeared:) I would spot for a day once in a blue moon but that's it. I just had it removed in April to try for our second baby, and my period started back up the next month:) I've had a wonderful experience so I say go for it!!!:)

My sister had it. It migrated, rotated, and blocked a tube which resulted in an ectopic pregnancy. Her egg got hung at the release point blocking her other tube. She almost lost both tubes and had she not demanded blood work and X-rays it could've turned fatal. She had to be hospitalized a few days. They had to terminate her pregnancy as they couldn't safely remove the mirena without hurting her and the egg. She was 5 weeks when they finally listened to her. She'd been telling them since 3.5 weeks as it started that she took an hpt that showed positive. But she threw false positives at the clinic so they sent her home. Then she started getting really bad stomach pains. Then one day she just couldn't move. Couldn't walk, couldn't sit up. It was a scary, emotional time for our family.

I know this is an extreme case, but it does happen more than you'd think.
