pool and baby?

Question

Anyone swimming with their babies yet? Couple questions - are there any safe sunblocks? Life jacket device? We go to the pool at our local university and the life guards are pretty strict about kids wearing life jackets. Not sure if they'll make a 5 month old wear one.

Someone in my mommy group went to a marine store and found an infant life jacket. I take baby in the pool, she's 4 months, but only in the shade and I just hold her since we don't stay in for very long. I haven't used sunscreen yet, but do use sunglasses and a hat when we do go in the pool for extra. You can also try those long-sleeved rash guard type shirts that provide SPF.

I know you can find baby life jackets, and I think it's a good idea if other kids are around. My baby and I sit in her kiddie pool and she wear a hat and I use babyganics sunscreen. Just a tiny bit goes a long way!

Was just at the pediatrician for our 4 month visit yesterday and they told us they still are not recommending sunscreen use yet. Many stores have UPF rash guards for babies (I know Target has them) which is a nice alternative. We bought a Stohlquist brand life jacket for our daughter to wear when we go boating this summer. The website Lucie's List has a great article for summer gear for babies. Hope this helps!

I've always heard no sunblock until 6 months..maybe get a rash guard and a floppy hat to protect the skin. As far as a life vest maybe check out Amazon?

We are taking my little guy to the beach. We couldn't find a life jacket but my pediatrician said hypoallergenic baby sunscreen is ok as long as we don't use it a ton. They also recommended staying out of the sum between 11 and 4.

So...we have swim clothes with built in sun protection and got hat/sunglasses. We also picked up babyganics (my SIL is a chemist and said it's one of the safest chemical wise)
