Waiting on that ring

My boyfriend and I have been dating for about anyear now and we've been living together for about 2 yrs. we have the same goals like buying a house doing some traveling etc.. He the type of guy that believes in the saying " if it ain't broke, don't fix it" which is fine but I want to get married before we start buying property. I asked hi how he felt about getting married in the next year or two he said that would be fine he has no problem with it. I know If I wait on him to propose then I'll be waiting for the next decade or two... Should I propose to him or no???
