In home care or daycare?

Question

In home daycare - lady keeps 3-5 kids a day- 2 are hers she has years experience.  120 a week for 3 days.  LO will get more personable attention but will be with older kids 2-4 yo.    20 min from work but 5 mi from home

Daycare - 3 min from work, 1:5 teacher baby ratio.  LO will be around same age babies but not as much attention.   228 for 3 days a week

In home is cheaper but I can't see her at lunch break, which is a good or bad thing.

Being someone who worked in a daycare in all the different rooms including the infant rooms (1:5 ratio) I voted for the in home daycare. What a lot of parents don't understand is we can't give your child the attention we would like to or suit to their every needs per regulations atleast where I was working at. Also infants toddlers and two year olds are often mixed up to keep up with the ratios teachers will be in and out and you won't be able to create a great bond with the caregiver! Hope this helps

My daughter still talks to this day about her in home daycare, it was a great experience for her and we loved it! I've never really had the option of a daycare center but if you get a good provider in home is the way to go imo.

Day care is better regulated with plenty of adults on hand to help in an emergency. There are a lot of sickos out there, I would do daycare if you can afford it.

I would choose the in home if it's run like a day care and not just kids plopped in front of the tv in her living room.

i pick daycare because i have infants. 1:3 or 2;6 ration.  i feel more comfortable with a center than a sole provider at a home daycare that i dont know

I went to an in home daycare, i still remember some of the good memories from there. If i ever need daycare i'll send the littles to my neighbour, who happens to run an in home daycare. She has 5 of her own kids, and they're amazing with my daughter already. If you're worried about in home daycare get to know the people a bit first, so you can be sure you like the way they do things in their home.

It depends on the daycare. We did in home with my kids. She LOVED my children and they loved her. They made so many wonderful friends there. When we moved, I looked at some in home daycares around here and they were verified by the state and horrifying, seriously. We had the ability to switch our schedules at work, work opposite shifts, and raise our kids ourselves which has worked well. We use a baby sitter for a few hours a week when we need help and she comes into our home. If you can find an in home daycare where she will love your children and give the care they need, and you trust her, than do it. The fear is that some in home daycares are illegal and less regulated. That's not ALL though. Sounds like you found a good one.

I would choose in Home Care. I don't trust daycare chains. The chances of the child being neglected are higher. Also as a kid who did both I was more comfortable going to "grandma cici" house than going to a day care full of snot nosed bullies
