Could you date someone with beliefs different from yours?

I feel like sometimes I could really, really like someone and then when I find out their beliefs are different from mine, I freak out. Don't know why but I'm starting to wonder if that's just silly. How do y'all feel about this?

I personally could not be with someone with different beliefs then me just because I feel like my beliefs guide me and make my life better, my husband has the same beliefs as me!

Depends on the belief...are they racist/sexist/ etc? Hell no. If they believe that the best fruit is papaya (which it isn't), I guess I could make it work

I couldn't marry someone are raise kids with them if their beliefs were very different to mine. I think it'd cause way too many issues. I'm Catholic and I could and do date an agnostic Pentecostal (I'd date another Christian) and we don't have a problem with religious differences. We have differences in our beliefs, be we can be respectful of those differences. Since our beliefs aren't overly different it's not too hard to find a middle ground we both like. I could also see a relationship working with a Jewish man. But other religions are just too different. I'd have a hard time making it work unless he was 100% ok with me raising the kids as Catholics separately. And I don't really think that's a good family relationship. Some people do make it work, but if you're uncomfortable with it then it's probably not something that will work for you. And that's ok. Faith is an important part of many people's lives and if you need someone that shares your faith then that is perfectly ok.

Important beliefs I can't compromise on, especially things to do with bigotry. Maybe for casual friendships but nothing more. Other things might not matter as much. It really depends.
