Telling Your Employer???

Question

When/how did you let your employer know??? What are the legalities here? I'm really afraid I will get let go.

I told mine when I found out because I was working with very large unruly dogs and needing to lift heavy things. They switched me to easier shifts and have told me just let someone else know if I needed something lifted. I'm almost 37 weeks and I work up until the week before I'm due. They also updated the handbook to include lactation policies according to laws and let me know they're hoping I come back after my maternity leave.

I told my employer around 7 weeks. I had planned on waiting until the second trimester, but they were talking detailed plans about me leading a project during the time frame that I will be on maternity leave. So trying to be considerate of scheduling, I decided to tell them then and they're being more than accommodating about everything. It was much scarier in my mind than it turned out to be. They can't legally fire you hun, and if they try you definitely have a case against them

They can't fire you because you are pregnant.

I told my employer right away, although they can't fire you for pregnancy they "terminated my position due to concern of stress" I wish I was kidding. They never even did the exit interview or paperwork. I doubt that will happen to you, but it's best to be honest with them even if you are worried.

They can't just because you're pregnant. My employers are my in laws, so it was easy.

I guess it depends on your position if it's very labor intensive and they don't want a pregnant woman ??? Need more info I guess
