I had my docs appointment at 9 weeks and they didn't do an US. I was kind of bummed that they didn't. Is that unusual??

Here the first appointment here is a pap smear and gathering info they usually make you come back at 10 weeks for the first ultrasound and then the next and final ultrasound is gender at 20 weeks

In the UK we don't get ultrasounds until 12-15wks then another at 20wks. At 9wks they don't even listen for a heartbeat it's just all bloods and paperwork.

No it's not unusual. My doctor doesn't do an ultrasound until the 20 week mark. I'm too impatient so I've had 2 elective ultrasounds. One at 13 weeks and one at 17 weeks to find out the sex. My 20 week scan is Monday.

I know my first appointment was supposed to just be my intake with the nurse. But after 2 miscarriages I threw a fit and got to see the doctor for an ultrasound that day also! So I had mine at 8 weeks 3 days. They do another at 22 weeks. 
I guess all doctors offices are different. Maybe you should find one that does early ultrasounds?

I'm not sure if it's unusual, but my docs do a US right away. It ensures there is in fact a baby, heartbeat, etc. I would not want to wait that long! But I suppose all docs do things differently for different reasons.

This is my 4th preg and my ob always schedules my apts when I'm 6 weeks, I've always had a ultrasound
