Dominant Follicles

Well, I went into the ER this morning for abdominal pain. I had a scan which showed that I have 1 dominant follicle in each ovary. The right measuring at 2.5cm and the left at 2cm. Is this something that is normal? I thought that I had ovulated already so this was somewhat confusing to see. No one bothered to explain it to me or even say anything about it. Anyone else have experience with this?
