I had sex Wednesday and I took a test Saturday got a faint and my husband was like you can't get pregnant that quick and I tried to explain to him how this works lol.

No, you need to wait at least 12 days post ovulation, if you're unsure when you ovulated, then I'd just wait 12 from the sex in question. The sperm could stay alive upto 5 days, so minimum I would wait 7 days from sex in question, but still very likely to get a false negative.
