Advice, tips, and success stories after cheating

II I have been with my boyfriend for a year and 3 months. 9 months into our relationship I cheated on him. I went to another state to visit my friend. I went there with no intentions of doing what I did. That month I cheated was also the year anniversary of me losing my child.. I wasn't in a good head space. I slept with my friend and her boyfriend. It was my friends idea. I immediately regretted it an kept it from my boyfriend. Which I know i shouldn't have. I guess my friend messaged my boyfriend herself literally after all of it happened and told him everything. That was 6 months ago. He just received the message yesterday. He was staying the weekend at my house but let me talk, I had him ask questions, and I told him I was genuinely sorry. Even though I know sorry doesn't cut it. This is the first time I've ever cheated. And I hate myself for it. My boyfriend is the only one I see myself having a future with. He went home and he doesn't know what he wants to do. :/ I guess I'm just asking for tips, advice, and maybe success stories. Thank you for listening.
