Can I Request a Baby Shower?

Question

This is my 3rd baby but we have a 7 year gap since the last one. We thought we were done having babies after #2 so we got rid of everything. We don't have a single baby item. Is it rude to ask a friend if she could host a shower for me. I keep hoping someone will offer but so far nothing.

I don't want to seem impolite but I know a shower would really help us prepare.

Unfortunately, requesting a friend to throw you one I don't think is such a good idea. That's a lot of work for someone to throw a shower...plus a lot of money. I spent a fortune throwing my sister a shower.  However, I think a good idea would be host your own party! Call it a baby celebration party if you feel uncomfortable throwing yourself a shower. I am pregnant with my third and I am not having a shower. Instead, I search garage sales for things I need and do online garage sales as well. I just wash everything up really good! Saves a lot of money

I don't think baby showers are supposed to be requested? If you feel the need to have a baby shower I would suggested registering somewhere like Target or Babies R Us & just let your family/friends know you're registered there. Even if you don't have an actual shower the registery should be enough . I know that if my pregnant friend or sis told me abt her registery I would get her something ;)

Have you tried confiding in a friend how you are feeling? Maybe letting them know that you are concerned about all the things you need will make them think to suggest it?

Host your own. Do something small and invite whomever you want. That's what I'm doing with this baby. With my first I had like 5 people volunteer to throw me one. This time around no one did so I will be doing it myself.

I started planning my own and then someone jumped in and said I shouldn't have to throw my own shower and took over ;) plan your own there's no shame in doing it yourself.

For my 1st baby I honestly didn't think of throwing my selfs one but for baby number two I am. Now a days ppl do crazy stuff they do parties for every little thing and a baby it's something important so just go for it I know I will lol...!'
