IUD???

Question

Alright so what exactly is an IUD??? like... is it a form of birth control? And how does it work and get put in and all of that??

I just got mine put in and it didn't even hurt! There was a little pressure when it was going it but it was not bad at all. Before the put it in my doctor gave me a shot in my arm to help relax me because I was sooo nervous and it really helped relax me. So they just put the speculum in you and clean around your cervix then get it all ready and then the iud is in a small plastic tube and they just put it up in you and there's only pressure for a second or two and then they just position it, trim the strings, then it's done! And I still haven't had any cramping since getting it put in and I expected to have like pretty intense cramps but I've got nothing so far!😊

It's a small plastic device with either copper wrapped around or hormones and it looks like the shape of the letter 'T'. It's inserted into your uterus which is opened up with some medical clamps. It just slots in and I've read it stays in sorta the same way glasses stay on your nose. Anyway it can last anywhere from five to ten years depending what type you get. There are two little strings that hang down into your vagina that you are supposed to check every month. I check every week though. To make sure they are still there and that the IUD hasn't moved and therefore become ineffective. If it's hormonal it will release hormones into the entire reproductive system (making it better than the birth controls that release it into the entire body such as the pill or the implant), and it will change your cervical mucus so it's deadly to sperm. It will also stop ovulation about at least 50% of the time. As for the copper one which I have copper is toxic to sperm so it effectively works as a steriliser.

I never had it but yes it's birth control gets put inside you by Obgyn doctor they have pamphlets at the doctor office they last a few years from like 5-10 years
