how long were you stuck at 1cm???

I'm 36 weeks and 2 days and my doctor checked me and I was dilated 1cm. Just wondering how long I'm gonna be stuck at 1.

Cervical exams mean nothing in the absence of labor. It increases the risk of infection and premature rupture of the amniotic sac. It also gives false hope of labor beginning soon or worry that it'll never start.

You're not stuck. Progress is progress. Full term is 39 weeks. You've got plenty of time. Dilation prior to labor doesn't signify anything important unless you're in need of a Bishops score for an induction.

I live in Ireland and I'm 32 weeks with my 4th baby. On my first 2 I was never checked until I was in labour, at all!! They don't do it here. And on my 3rd I had a sweep at 40&2 and I was completely closed and cervix wasn't favourable for labour. Baby boy arrived at 40&4. I won't have any examinations unless I go overdue (40+) and choose to have a sweep. So strange to hear all you ladies talk about dilation weeks before labour starts 😊
