CNAS work while pregnant?

I work in a nursing home, meaning I lift residents and am on my feet almost constantly, I'm not pregnant yet that I know of, but since my body is already used to the lifting do yall think I'll be alright? I don't really have much choice but to continue doing what I'm doing...but I may be able to talk to my DON about changing position. What do yall think?

It depends on how much physical lifting transferring and turning you will do.. I had an etopic pregnancy while working in a nursing home as a CNA and ive never looked back.

I work as a CNA also and was kind of wondering the same thing. However doctors do say any physical activity that you are used to isn't going to hurt your chances of conceiving.

You may be more prone to injuries including back pain because of loosened joints. I worked as an RN on a busy floor, and I just told them I couldn't do heavy lifting. I helped to turn sometimes if the patient wasn't too heavy. They were able to accommodate. It may be hard to accommodate in your position. Are you able to do any light duty work?

I did it with my first pregnancy, it wasn't horrible until I got around 5 months and then the dr took me out of work. As long as you don't over do it, you should be ok, but maybe you should ask your doctor, when you get pregnant just to be safe

I worked as a cna in a nursing home while I was pregnant. I worked my whole pregnancy. I worked up to two days before my baby was born. Hopefully your DON is more understanding than mine was. He kept working me 6 or 7 nights straight. He wouldn't let me work on a floor that had help. He was basically a jerk. But I did it because I needed to work. Yes it got hard but it's possible. And lifting doesn't harm the baby especially if your use to it. So you I think you will be fine. Good luck with everything!
