To shave or not to shave a newborn's hair?

Someone I went to school with did this because her mixed race baby was born with straight hair, she shaved it at 4 weeks because she wanted it to grow back Afro.

She's an asshole.

Some cultures do it because they believe it helps the hair grow faster and thicker.

In Islam we shave the baby's hair at 7 days old. It's not to make it grow thicker but is thought to reduce the incidence of cradle cap. Although my son's hair did grow back very thick and fast and he has beautiful curls now at 8 months. No cradle cap and it didn't do him any harm. I know it's scary to think of doing it and people are bound to disagree, but each to their own. We all have different views and opinions - that's what makes the world interesting.

I shaved my sons head when he was a few months old because it rubbed off in certain places and he looked silly.. Now he has gorgeous thick hair..

My sisters hair was shaved and is much nicer and fuller then mine. I have a lot of baby hair and I'm 25. I plan on shaving my daughters hair. My child my choice. Everyone has there own opinions.

Well a lady took her newborn to the barber and it went viral on Worldstar...heard charges were being pressed on the mom and the barber so I would say it's probably not a good idea.
