Eating before an Ultrasound - Yes or No?

Okay so I'm having an ultrasound at about 11:00 am today and have to travel two and a half hours to get there, the last time I ate was midnight (not a good idea) since I woke up hungry. Anyone know if I'm allowed to eat or not before I go in?

The OB and Ultrasound tech say it's good to eat because it wakes baby up.

Are you having an ultrasound of the baby done or something else? For the baby it shouldn't matter. Any other organs you will need to double check. I had an ultrasound of my upper abdominal area during pregnancy and was not allowed to eat.

I go for an ultrasound today and my paperwork told me to make sure I have a full bladder and to eat because eating makes the baby more active.

I've recently had gallbladder removal about two weeks ago too & today I'll hopefully be finding out the gender of my baby. My sister made the appointment for me but didn't say whether or not I was allowed to eat.

I've never heard no eating before one. I do know they like your bladder to be full before you go though.
