HSG procedure-- anyone???

Question

Has anyone had an HSG procedure--- they put the dye in through the lady parts and takes X-ray pictures to see that there is no blockage/issues? I'm 30 having this procedure done next week.

I just want to know how other's experiences with this procedure went.

Hi, I had this done about a year ago. It was totally bearable, you'll be fine. Just keep in mind why you are doing it. It does get a bit uncomfortable but breathe through it, it's not that bad xx

Quick test-lots of pressure/cramping but I wouldn't call it pain.

I had my hsg and the procedure was really quick but really uncomfortable. Pain makes me nauseous so my husband held my hand and a barf bag. I'm glad it didn't last any longer than it did. My doctor was awesome and didn't play any of it down--- she said this is going to feel pretty yucky but just for about 15 seconds. I did take Tylenol before the procedure. I didn't have a ton of cramping afterwards so I was happy about that. 👍 thank you ladies for the info before hand. We found out that I have no blockage and I have eggs... She said sometimes the hsg can be enough to flush the Fallopian tubes and some people get pregnant after that. Ovulating now. ☺️ So now if I get my period in 2 weeks I won't feel helpless and devastated.... I will call my nurse if I get my period and she'll call in a prescription of clomid ✔️ Moving forward one step at a time. It feels good :)

At what point will the doctor generally suggest this test?

I had one done about 2-3 weeks ago. I have a pretty high tolerance for pain but the cramping with this was pretty awful. They made me roll on my side from left to right I'm assuming to have the dye go up the tubes and have the images be taken appropriately. My HSG wound up showing an unexplained right Hydrosalpinx (dilation and inflammation of the Fallopian tube). My fertility doc told me this could be the cause of me having difficulty with getting pregnant and when my right ovary is releasing an egg leaves me open for higher risk of ectopic pregnancy. This month I am releasing an egg from my left so fingers crossed this month is the month!

I had one in November. It really wasn't that bad for me. Mild cramping when they injected the dye but it only lasts a few minutes. I took some painkillers a couple hours before. I didn't have any leaking spotting or cramping at all after. I did find out my left tube was blocked and my dr started me on Clomid last month. I got my BFP after the first round and am now 6 weeks and 5 days so definitely worth it! Good luck!

I had it done last week. It was done very quickly but tbh it was very painful for me. A lot of woman just find it uncomfortable. Take painkillers beforehand and take a panty liner as it will leak out. I had spotting for a couple of days afterward and was crampy that night x
