How long after starting birth control should my period start?

I'm on the second pill of the second week (9th day) in the birth control pack. My doctor said I should start on the 4th day? I haven't yet. My period is now 3 weeks late but two HPTs have been negative and an additional urine test at the doctors was negative. Thoughts? Advice?

Please no negativity, such as saying I should have been on birth control in the first place. I moved back home and my insurance was put on hold while the paperwork was being transferred from the other county I lived in, so I couldn't get BC for a while.

You normally don't start you're period until after the 3rd week when you start the sugar pill

I think your doctor meant 4th week, not 4th day :) it's the last pills, most of the time they have a different colour.

Ya u dont start till u start taking the sugar pills or just go straight ahead to next pack might have some spotting.

It took my body 3 months to become regular on birth control but you should have a period when your taking the last week of pills

I always started my pills on the Sunday after I started my period so it was always at least three weeks before I started my period again.
