metronidazole oral tablets during early pregnancy

I was wondering what everyone who has been treated for BV during pregnancy things about taking this drug in the 5-8 weeks range. I've read things o the internet that say it's safe, and others that say it's not. Anyone took this and went on to have a healthy pregnancy? Anyone have a bad experience?
