spotting during pregnancy

I've been having spotting every day since I became pregnant. Sometimes it's brown and barely there, and sometimes it's bright red with tissue. It usually only appears when I wipe and doesn't ever soak a pad. I'm 6-7 weeks at the moment and every time I talk to my doctor they say it's fine and normal and that I shouldn't be concerned unless it's soaking a pad and I have bad cramping.
