Children and adults need to be wearing life jackets while rafting, kayaking, & on a boat. It's stories like these is why it's important for children to be wearing life jackets.

Parents fault. That would be considered negligence and child endangerment. Common sense tells you to wear a life jacket even when you know how to swim.

Well its an accident but 100% the parents fault. Children under the age of 12 (maybe older depending on location) while on a vessel in the water must wear a life jacket. My daughter is yet to be born, and I have already bought her newborn+ approved to be for use on the water. I dont understand who in their right mind wouldn't protect their child.

Sorry for short description, Eve was being glitchy. Backstory: parents were pulling the raft. A 9 and 5 year old were in the raft were in the raft at the same time as the 18 month old. The 18 month old didn't have a life jacket on. The whole story sounds sketchy. Why didn't the older children say something? Why wasn't the baby wearing a life vest? I'm sorry, but I put full blame on the parents in this situation. Tragic, but fully preventable.

This reminds me of my family to not forcimg me to wear a seat belt because I hated the way it felt. I can only assume someone would avoid putting a child who couldn't swim in a life jacket because they may have turned into screaming a little shit like I was if they didn't like it. Parents get tired. They probably just wanted to have a nice time and now they'll regret avoiding a tantrum for the rest of their lives. Not putting that child in a jacket was pretty much child endangerment and lacking common sense. But I know a lot of parents who do unsafe stuff to get things done, for fun or not.

Of course it was an accident but the child should have been wearing a life jacket and it may have had a significantly different outcome.

Sorry but yes it was their fault, all people on the boat (especially children) should be wearing life jackets!

Parents fault... sorry if they're pulling the raft they should be watching the baby The whole thing sounds SUPER sketchy. How do you not notice you're baby missing? Wouldn't it cry? Wouldn't you hear the plop? Wouldn't you be frantically searching for it?
