White people and dogs...........???
EDIT BELOW**
I'm visiting my husbands family for the holiday weekend (I'm black, they're white). There are a bunch of people and a few dogs here in the small apartment. I'm just a little confused because it seems like they don't think these dogs carry germs... My husband's brother has a son who is the same age as my son (7-8 months) and they're letting him crawl all around and roll around with the dogs who literally just shat outside. And the floors are low key covered in dog fur... Its so gross. Its not a nasty place in general they seem clean, that's why I'm like what the hell is going on??!? The dogs are running around and people are sitting on the floor eatting next to them. They're all petting and scrating the dogs and then eating cut fruit from a big bowl with their hands. There is a plate of cookies with a fucking hair on it...... Am I crazy or is this gross or is it a culture thing???? I don't even want to eat any of their food. Please help. I AM FREAKING OUT!!!
Edit--- No one is washing their hands. They're touching baby toys, and dogs and dogs toys and eating all at the same time. I have a dog and am more mindful of when I touch him vs my baby.
I just noticed that's a common stereotype for white people to be super 'close' with their dogs. I'm asking if this is a thing for everyone of if y'all thing this is gross?
Edit----I guess I can't expect any white person to understand what I'm trying to ask. I don't really have an argument here, just asking a question while stating my opinion. Any person of color on here ever behave this way with your pets? Speak up! Otherwise, these comments are kind of proving my speculation that there might be a culture divide on this subject.
