Update on Bleeding!!
Ok everyone! Someone said that a lot of people bleed during pregnancy but don't talk about what happens. Here's my story.
I'm 11 weeks and 2 days. The day I turned 11 weeks I started bleeding like a faucet and was sure I was miscarrying. Scariest moment of my life so far. I called my dr who told me to wait and rest and they would try to get me an ultrasound. I continued to bleed a lot, the whole toilet bowl was red. I decided to go to the ER to get a quicker answer as to what was going on.
When I got there, of course I had to wait but not for long, they did blood work and an ultrasound (saw the heartbeat and baby was wiggling) and baby was fine. They told me to go home and call my dr in the morning.
The next day I called and got an appointment that morning with my dr and she did a pelvic exam, said everything was ok there and that they hadn't seen anything on the ultrasound that would give a cause for the bleeding, which at this point, I was still bleeding but not as much because I stopped all activity since I started the day before.
The outcome: my dr put me on disability until the end of the month, very light activity, not allowed to pick up my 8 month old, no sex, etc. They're doing an ultrasound at the end of the month that we are waiting for to see if there's anything with the baby that could be causing the bleeding.
I know not everyone's situation turns out like this and for those of you who have miscarried after a bleed like mine I am so very sorry. The agony I experienced not knowing whether my baby was ok or not is something I NEVER want to experience again. Sometimes things turn out ok, though. Trust your gut and go in if something feels or is off about you or your body during pregnancy. You are your best advocate!!
