He just wants to be friends

My boyfriend and I were bestfriends for 5 years prior to dating. We dated for 3 years and lately we've been not getting along as well with one another. We've gotten to this point before but he stayed because he didn't wanna hurt me. Now it's happening again and he just want to be "friends" again. We live together and everything. He just really wants to focus more on his career, as he feels this relationship is becoming an obstacle of him trying to achieve his dreams. I can't make him stay in a relationship if he doesn't want to so I agreed to it but now idk wtf to do. Idk if I can just go back to being friends with him because it's been almost 4 years since we were just friends. He's afraid I'll begin to shutdown from him. Idk what to do or think at this point. And we're not even horrible, we just have our moments throughout the day, but for the past week, it's become a daily thing. He just really doesn't wanna put forth anymore energy into upholding a relationship. He wants to take all of this energy and put it towards his music career but he doesn't wanna lose me either which is why he wants to remain "friends" but idk where my feelings are or are gonna be once he officially moves out.
