Fertility planning meeting.. need advice please!!
So here is our story: husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for almost 3 years now and had one miscarriage .. we also each have a child from previous marriages. We decided to go to a specialist and they recommended I have a laparoscopic surgery and insulin tolerance test due to slightly elevated testosterone. However, they also said if my husband has low sperm count then they would not recommend this surgery because we would then need IUI or IVF. I therefore cancelled the surgery when I found out that I am ovulating normally, have a regular cycle, and that I don't have PCOS or insulin resistance. Also we found out my husband has low sperm count, which is why we aren't getting pregnant. We kept our planning meeting even though we opted out of the surgery. My question is .. can you tell the doctor that you want to do IVF and not the IUI? What questions should I be asking at this planning meeting? And how soon would they begin treatment after this planning meeting?
