I was diagnosed with marginal cord insertion at 20w and had a scan every 4w to check the growth of the baby.As your uterus and placenta grow, the cord can either move back to the "middle" of the placenta or further off to the side- or even just stay where it is.My cord remained "marginal" the while pregnancy, but it never fully went off to the side. My baby always measured in the 98th percentile, so he was always on the bigger side, growth wasn't an issue. He did the opposite of what they were worried about and grew TOO much hahaAs long as there are no complications in size of your little one or the cord doesn't inhibit your babies growth, there's no reason to elect for a csection. In the best cases the cord will just grow with the placenta back to the middle. I've read Google, and I know it's terrifying, I was so worried after they told me. But the worst case scenarios don't often happen. They will monitor your baby and let you know how to plan for it. I tried for a vaginal delivery, but my baby boy got his shoulders stuck at my pelvis and I had to have an emergency csection. I'm wishing for the best for you, try not to read the internet too much, it's just made to scare mama's!Let me know if there are any questions I can answer, I questioned my OB for almost 45 minutes about it. :) 💕
marginal cord insertion
I was recently diagnosed with this (my third and final pregnancy) I have read up on all the risks etc that come with this. I have talked to my doctor and will be sent for a 3rd ultrasound in a few weeks to see how baby is developing in size etc. I want to know if anyone else has had this before (7% of pregnancies) and have pushed for elective C-section... Or have had complications with labour and delivery..
