TDap shot pregnant ???

Question

So my doctor recommended me to do a TDap shot between 27-36 weeks. 
He hasn't look at my record ( from France ) 
And I had for sure the shot at a young age, then around 16-17 yo cause of a cut and again at 19 years old ! ( 2009) 
So I am wondering if I should really have this shot again while pregnant to protect the baby ?! 
I am very cautious when it comes to shots, the less the better in my opinion!

The CDC a recommendation is every 10 years and every pregnancy in the 3rd trimester regardless of when you last got it. Getting it in the third trimester gives the antibodies in your system a boost and passes them on to baby to protect them until they can get their own shots. So your doctor isn't worried about when you last got it because the recommendation says it doesn't matter.

The shot is not for your benefit but for your baby. If you don't get it, they will. It be given any antibodies to protect themselves against it until two months old. By getting it in your third trimester, you pass on those antibodies to them so they have some protection when they come out. You never know who can be carrying whooping cough on the street so it's important to give them any fighting chance to can. Whooping cough is fatal to infants and I wouldn't risk it.

We don't get it in Canada as far as I know... I don't do any vaccines while pregnant... well I actually haven't had anything since my tetanus shot when I was 10-11. My baby is fine :)

I also got mine last at 19 in 2009. My midwife told me that since it's been less then 10 years I didn't need to get it again. I gave birth 6 weeks ago and everyone is doing great.

TDAP is to protect from whooping cough, a shot for a cut would be tetanus. They recommend it so your child doesn't get whooping cough and die after being born. I didn't get it with either child mine were fine but we also didn't go out often enough to need to worry about the germs coming into contact with them. I'd say it's 50/50 and it's up to you if you want it or not.
