"Break" advice??

My boyfriend recently lost his brother and I've been there for him always but he is grieving right now and I can't seem to help. He told me he needs a break and I'm gonna respect that so he can mourn but I'm really really in love with him and I hate the idea of us being apart. I am 100% positive I want to spend the rest of my life with this man so this breaks my heart. I'm just worried that this break will last too long and that he'll fall out of love with me or meet someone else. I just don't know what to do or if there is anything I can do please help
