family with coldsores & newborns
So before you say how dangerous cold sores are to baby, let me say; i know. No one who has anything remotely resembling a cold sore will be kissing my baby. I have every intention to enforce a "no kissing rule" and surely hope people respect that. My problem is, my MIL gets them. She is very pushy... typical first time grandma and "knows best" because she's "done it all before".... all that cliche stuff. I'm 2 weeks out from my DD and I have been stressing for MONTHS that she's going to try to sneak kisses. Of course, if she does it in front if me, I will take my baby away from her. But what happens if she does sneak a kiss?? Someone can do it in .2 seconds & that makes me nervous. My question is; IF she is showing no signs of a cold sore, and she sneaks a kiss, how bad do I need to stress?? Is it just more of a disrespectful thing, but my baby will be okay because she doesn't have a current cold sore? I only know what I read (I've never had one) but I am so fearful of this. Is there a real reason to be terrified of her passing it to my baby?
