Real love

I gave a talk in the small group I help run for young women the other night that stressed the importance of your self worth as a woman and where exactly that self worth comes from. In our culture we all know women are told they aren't valuable unless they're pretty and I was hoping to poke some holes in that for my girls. You as a woman are God's final creation, the crown jewel of all He made. I stressed that as women we are built for INCREDIBLE things like pregnancy and birth, but also capable of powerful things that men can do- but we can do ever so differently with our unique aptitude for empathy and emotion. I won't argue that I don't like to be called pretty or that I don't like when my husband shows how physically attracted to me his is but I will say this- NOTHING makes me feel more loved or more beautiful than his praise for what really gives my life meaning for me personally. He didn't know anything about my talk to the small group and he spent last night out of town for work but I woke up to this on facebook (and we're like the opposite of mushy facebookers- it usually just downright freaks us out)
