Would it be inappropriate for me to get something for the sibling?

I'm going to my friends baby shower in a couple weeks and I obviously got presents for mom and baby but would it be okay to get something for the older sibling? She's 6, and I know I remember feeling left out and "abandoned" when the new baby is here. Would this be overdoing it?

I don't think so. I see baby showers as needed help/relief while celebrating a new life. As a lot of focus is on the unborn, I think it's a nice gesture to get the kid something too, and I think the parents would appreciate any relief in buying something else, as well as including the kid too

It's a fantastic gesture!!! As a mom of a six year old who is expecting a baby, it would mean the WORLD to me if someone bought of my big boy during the shower. It can be a hard transition for the older sibling.

I always get the sibling  something the day i visit the baby.   so she feels apart of everything  once baby is there.

Definitely ok! My son was 8 when his little sister was born. I thought it was so sweet and thoughtful for people to think about him. It made him feel even more apart of the day and special too

That's perfectly fine. I remember one of the baby showers I went to the mama said if anyone wanted to they could get activity books for her older child.

When my godson was born I put together a massive box of presents for his older sister and nothing for him. I think it's important that older siblings feel special

At my most recent baby shower some people bought presents for my daughter and I thought it was really sweet and she loved it. 😊
