First Pap Smear Advice?

Next month (august) I go in for my first Pap smear. I'm super nervous and don't know what to expect. Anyone with experience in getting them, will it hurt? Should I be nervous? I am sexually active and I've gotten a vaginal ultrasound before but that was the worst pain of my life. :/ I'm just really nervous.

I had mines back in March one month after my birthday this year. It's honestly basically a regular vaginal exam (probe thing, fingers (maybe), silver weird thing (I forgot what it's called, but it opens up your vaginal canal or something, they use it in regular vaginal exams), and they swab you. The swab besides that silver instrument they used was temporarily uncomfortable. I had the nurse assistant hold my hand and it made it 10x as better ☺️ It's really not that bad. Don't be nervous. I was shitting bricks when I first went in trust me 😂 Its super quick too. You'll be in and out in no time! Everyone just over exaggerates it when they said it's gonna be the worse feeling ever besides child birth and all of that other bull crap. Don't pay attention to it. They're just tryna scare ya! 😅 You should also get a breast exam while your there. I got my first breast exam and Pap smear the same day and was happy as can be as they found nothing wrong at both areas of my body! And my family is know for ovarian cysts! 😩 Don't stress or worry about it. It's just a regular vaginal exam with a swab! You'll be fine love! 💙 Don't sweat it! ❤️

Got my first pap smear a week ago and the trick is to relax.. If you contract your muscles it will hurt, so just relax and breathe deeply it helps so much :) And it will be a lot quicker. Of course, it's uncomfortable but it really isn't THAT bad.

Thanks y'all. I got a vaginal ultrasound with a probe and everything about a month ago and it was so painful and uncomfortable I cried during and after for a little while. I guess I was afraid it would be like that again.

Just relax...take deep breaths. It will feel a little uncomfortable but they don't last too long.
